Aidan's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 13, 2023

Dear Friends and Family,

Welcome to my fundraising page!

I am very excited to announce I have been selected to be a Student Visionary of the Year, as a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! I am leading a team called “Racing for a Cure” to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Each year, student candidates engage in a philanthropic competition to earn The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Student Visionaries of the Year" title. This year I am one of those candidates! With the help of my 8 teammates, my team hopes to raise $30,000 over a 7-week campaign, January 19th - March 10th!  Through corporate sponsorships, personal donations, and CharityBuzz's unique auctions, we know we can meet our goal.

Ever since I can remember, my family has dealt with an ongoing struggle of various cancers affecting all of us physically, mentally, and emotionally. From ages 8 - 11 my late grandmother, “Mama Martha”, fought against ovarian cancer three times. She battled for months on end and throughout her and her family’s battle I’ve gotten to see how hard the battle against cancer really is and how scary it can be. My great tia María  and tio Julio died one year after the other (2021 - 2022) from pancreatic cancer. It was horrible seeing them in that condition due to the harsh treatment they were going through and even more frightening to think children my age or younger have to go through that battle. That is why I have joined the fight with LLS, and with my campaign  I hope to raise funds to help researchers so that in the near future families with young kids battling cancer don’t have to struggle with the harsh effects of treatment on top of the cancer they’re dealing with.

None of this is fair and needs to STOP. The suffering needs to END. This is why the effective research that LLS is able to do is so important. LLS is truly changing the face of cancer and research. The survival rate of researched blood cancers has more than doubled. My 7-week campaign will give LLS the opportunity to continue fighting this disease. I cannot do this alone, I need your help.

This is how you can help me! Make a tax-deductible donation by going online to my fundraising page: https://events.lls.org/calso/svoyla23/aarevalogu If you would prefer to mail your donation, please use the enclosed pre-addressed envelope. Please make your check payable to: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and print “SOY Aidan Guzman” in the “Memo” section. The deadline for receiving contributions in the mail is March 4th, 2022.

You can also help me raise funds by inviting your friends, family, and everyone in your networks to join us by making a donation. Aside from donations, we would love to hear from you or someone you know who would be willing to donate goods or services for auction items, and sponsorships, for our Grand Finale on Saturday, March 10th, or other possible fundraising opportunities. Large or small, your contribution to this worthy effort will be greatly appreciated.

Please help us make a difference and be the last generation to face cancer!

Sincerely,

Aidan Guzman

Aidan's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Jul 19, 2022

Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
